As an Ayurvedic practitioner, I explore and identify root causes to help individuals become more balanced through understanding their body makeup or Prakrit, the “whys” in many cases, and how to effectively remove root causes for long-term sustainable optimum wellness.
Let’s dive a bit deeper. Each individual is unique, and with ever-growing one-size-fits-all approaches to weight loss, most people find they are on a hamster wheel of dieting and exercise. I am not saying dieting and exercise are not good, exercising has great benefits for all sizes and shapes and although I am not a fan of dieting as I believe it is a bandage waiting to be ripped off, I am a fan of lifestyle changes. Ayurveda supports sustainable weight loss by emphasizing balanced eating according to one’s digestion or Agni, exercise according to one’s body makeup or Prakriti, and the Mind-Body connection.
Digestion is called Agni in Ayurveda; it is the site where it all begins and is essential for weight loss. An Ayurvedic approach to digestion emphasizes mindful eating that includes eating in a calm peaceful environment, the quality and quantity of foods, and the timing of meals. Incorporating organic whole foods, allowing proper time to eat, and creating a healthy relationship with food enhances the body’s innate ability to restore balance and lose weight.
Balancing Doshas. There are three main dosha, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The doshas are made up of the elements air and space for Vata, fire and water for Pitta, and water and earth for Kapha. When imbalanced they can contribute to weight gain, when balanced they flow in harmony creating a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda identifies the dosha imbalance and provides ways to restore them. When doshas are nourished properly, weight loss can occur a bit more effortlessly.
The Mind-Body Connection. There is a strong connection between the mind and body that Ayurveda acknowledges and honors. Emotional eating is comforting which is why it can become one's “drug” of choice, and it can contribute to excessive weight gain. Restoring the mind-body connection through Ayurvedic practices such as meditation, pranayama, yoga, sound therapy, and aromatherapy, can help manage stress and improve overall well-being. The beauty in the awareness of the mind-body connection is it enhances a greater sense of self-love, bliss, and harmony.
Lifestyle Modifications. Ayurveda is a lifestyle, not a quick fix, which is why it can be sustainable. It teaches how to align with natural law by implementing daily routines or Dinacharya. Dinacharya can include practices such as early rise times, morning walks, tongue scraping, or warm water therapy. Working with an Ayurvedic practitioner you can create your own Dinacharya based on where you are and where you want to be to optimize weight loss and overall well-being.
This is not an overnight fix, anything worth having takes time, commitment, and effort. Ayurveda can help individuals make healthier choices while providing a non-judgmental space and nurturing support. It is an ancient approach that can easily work alongside medical and healthcare professionals to optimize long-term sustainable wellness. It does not replace any medical and or healthcare professional however it beautifully compliments it and enhances a healthier lifestyle.

]]>It is ideal to do it in the morning to help wake up your body and get it ready for the day, however, you can do it at night which promotes relaxation for a calmer healthier sleep. You will need warm oil and a towel or sheet that you don’t mind getting oily. It is preferred to use a dosha-specific Ayurvedic oil such as sesame oil for Vata, coconut oil for Pitta, or sunflower oil for Kapha, if you are not sure of your dominant dosha type you can take a short dosha quiz to find out.
Steps for Abhyanga:
Now that you are rejuvenated, refreshed, and renewed you can start your day.
Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine that offers a holistic approach to health and wellness. Rooted in India for thousands of years, Ayurveda emphasizes the balance between mind, body, and spirit. Let's explore the incredible benefits it has to offer.
Holistic Approach to Wellness
Ayurveda doesn’t just look at symptoms it goes even deeper to support you by addressing the root cause of imbalances. By understanding our unique constitution, or body makeup, and the interplay of the three doshas - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha - Ayurveda offers personalized treatments that restore harmony and promote overall well-being.
Personalized Approach to Your Wellness
One of the greatest strengths of Ayurveda is its individualized approach to health. Recognizing and understanding that each person is unique, Ayurveda creates a tailored approach of treatments, therapies, and lifestyle recommendations according to one's specific constitution, or body makeup, and health concerns. This personalized approach can lead to profound and lasting results.
Prevention is Key
Ayurvedic practices focus on maintaining balance and preventing imbalances from occurring in the first place. You don’t have to wait for a disease to strike, instead, you can adopt a lifestyle to enhance prevention. By adopting a preventive mindset, individuals can cultivate robust health and reduce the risk of diseases.
Healing Power of Nature
Ayurveda harnesses the healing power of nature. Yep, that’s right, nature is our friend so why not let it help you? Herbal remedies, derived from plants, minerals, and other natural sources, form a cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine. These remedies work in harmony with the body, gently supporting its natural healing processes. Ayurvedic herbs can address a wide range of ailments, from digestive issues to stress management.
Mind-Body Connection
Maintain a healthy mind-body connection through Ayurveda. Ayurveda recognizes the profound connection between the mind and body and acknowledges that our mental and emotional state can impact our physical well-being. To promote a sense of inner balance and bliss, calm the mind, and reduce stress, Ayurveda uses a multimodality approach including meditation, yoga, and pranayama (breathing exercises).
Digestive Health
Digestion is the cornerstone of health. Ayurveda recognizes the importance of digestive health. The digestive system is responsible for nutrient absorption and contributes to vitality and well-being. The intelligence, or lack thereof, of food, is taken in through digestion and feeds our cells and tissues, as the old adage says, “You are what you eat”. Through mindful eating, herbal formulations, and dietary adjustments according to one’s Agni or digestive fire, Ayurveda supports and strengthens the digestive system.
Emphasis on Stress Reduction and Relaxation
In our fast-paced world, stress has become a common daily challenge. Ayurveda offers various techniques to manage stress and promote relaxation. From specific herbs and oils to self-care practices like Abhyanga (oil massage) and Shirodhara (oil pouring on the forehead), Ayurveda provides effective tools to find balance amidst life's demands.
Ayurveda offers remarkable benefits for those seeking a holistic approach to health and wellness. Embracing its principles and integrating its practices into your life, you can experience improved vitality, balance, and harmony. When taking an Ayurvedic approach to your wellness it is important to seek out a qualified Ayurvedic wellness consultant or practitioner. Take a step toward unlocking the healing power of Ayurveda and embark on a transformative path to well-being.

]]>Drink a glass of room-temperature water.
During sleep, the body is busy working on repairing itself and strengthening immunity. Drinking water first thing in the morning rehydrates your body which aids in improving your mood and fatigue, boosts metabolism, helps to jumpstart mental performance, and best of all promotes glowing skin.
My favorite bonus tip: Place water in a copper cup with a lid and put it on a crystal charging plate on your nightstand just before you go to bed. When you wake up drink your crystal-charged cooper infused water! It’s as simple as that.
Meditate
Meditation has amazing benefits and best of all it is free and you can take it anywhere! You don’t need to have fancy gadgets or shut your mind down to benefit from meditation, you just need you. Check out Meditation-Self Care to learn more about the benefits and easy ways to meditate.
My favorite bonus tip: Pick which meditation resonates with you and go for it! Don’t think meditation is for you? No problem, start off with just 5 minutes each morning and work your way up.
State your gratitude.
Yep, it is that easy! Say what you are grateful for. Gratitude decreases anxiety and depression while increasing immunity and mood and improves sleep. Make your day happier with your gratitude list!
My favorite bonus tip: State your gratitude list just before your meditation routine
Get moving with yoga and a brisk walk!
Yoga in the morning has many benefits from boosting focus and concentration to jump-starting your digestive system. Yoga is a gentle way to tell your body you love it. Morning yoga releases stress from the previous day, releases morning stiffness, and wakes up the body by increasing circulation and enhancing immunity. Here are 7 Poses You Should Try to get your yoga practice going.
Take a brisk 20-minute walk or longer if you like! Walking enhances mood, and circulation, and jumpstarts your metabolism to help it work properly throughout the day. Being outside first thing in the morning tells your body it is time to become balanced and stay balanced by aligning your body to its natural rhythm.
My favorite bonus tip: Start by thanking yourself for being you and listen to uplifting music on your walk.
Take a cool shower.
Cool morning showers wash away toxins, decrease stress, and increase immunity by stimulating the production of white blood cells, don’t forget to thank your body’s biological clock for this one, boosts energy, and many studies have shown in men it increases fertility by enhancing sperm production. Want an additional boost without extra steps in the shower? Add essential oil routinely to your shower. This can easily be done by using an organic body wash blended with rosemary and French lavender essential oils and infused with crystals and reiki healing.
My favorite bonus tip: Turn on your favorite playlist and rock out!

I have seen people use mats with shoes on and off. First, let me just say that walking on a mat with your shoes on is comparable to walking around your house with your shoes on. You are tracking the same nasty dirt, pet hair, fecal matter and dust onto the mat as you would in your house.
The mat you are getting ready to lie down on, put your hands on, put you head on, and the front of your body.... Now let that sink in.
Your own germs are bad enough, but imagine dozens of other people who walk on the mats and put their sweaty feet and hands on the mat leaving dead skin, foot germs, breath molecules, warts, rashes and who knows what else!
Once all this ick is on the mat it can easily create viruses, bacteria and other germs that can cause skin irritations and various infections like ringworm, athletes foot, impetigo, and plantar warts.
Cleaning your mat or a community is key in helping to keep you healthy while you enjoy your favorite yoga class. There are different kinds of mats made and different ways to clean them.
Here are a few tips in keeping your mat clean and lasting long:

Because reiki promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety and aids the body in healing naturally through gentle or no touch it is now practiced all over the world, including in hospitals and hospice to complement other forms of health treatments.
Reiki has been known to help people suffering from autoimmune diseases, digestive problems, chronic pain, depression and other stress-related illnesses.
What are the benefits of reiki?
How does reiki work?
Reiki practitioners act as a conduit between you and the source of universal life force energy. That healing energy flows through the practitioner's hands and connects with your energy. The patient's energy determines where the healing is needed.
What does reiki feel like?
All energy healing feels like sensations such as heat, pulsing, or tingling or something more specific to your body. It is not uncommon for patients to feel emotional during a reiki session or any healing session. Should this happen it is perfectly normal and safe to let those emotions out. All energy healing helps to release blocked or stagnant energy.
Reiki can be done in-person or at a distance. The healing is all the same. It is recommended to have at least four consecutive sessions to see/feel results.

Intuitive coaches point out what you cannot easily see for yourself. They assist in healing and guide towards wholeness and well-being in every area of life.
An intuitive coach will work with you on how to connect and trust your intuitive self (gut instincts). Coaching is not a one size fits all approach, so intuitive coaches will use many different energy modalities to create a plan, roadmap and action steps to help you reach your goals.
They will encourage you, challenge you and support you through every step of your journey.
These niche coaches are there to motivate, uplift, and help you find what you’re looking for by asking key questions that prompt you to delve into your own mind and heart for answers. You are, and should always be, in control of your own life.
What Intuitive Wellness Coaching is not:
They are NOT licensed mental health professionals. They cannot diagnose or treat mental illness, mood disorders, or problematic behaviors. They should never tell you what to do or try to take control.
Intuitive Wellness Coaches are more action-oriented, while a therapist holds space for processing distressing things in life and works to uncover underlying issues.

Chakra (cakra in Sanskrit) means "wheel" and references the energy locations in your body. It is believed there are 114 chakras throughout the whole body, but there are only seven main chakras that run along your spine.
These energy points are spinning disks that are meant to stay open and aligned. Each chakra is connected to our nervous system, major organs and areas of our energetic body that can affect our emotional and physical well-being.
The seven main chakras have specific names, color, locations, essential oils, and stones. They run from the sacrum to the crown of the head. Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown.
Having more intimate knowledge/awareness with your body and emotions you can better identify your chakras and where imbalances may be. Once you are aware of this, there are various ways to help keep your chakras aligned, balanced and opened.
Here is an overview of each main chakra:
The Root chakra or Muladhara is located at the base of the spine. It is part of the matter chakras and essential to grounding and maintaining stability both physically and emotionally. Associated with the colon, bladder, prostate, lower back, legs and feet. When imbalanced one may feel fatigued, stressed, anxiety, sciatic and lower back issues.
To help balance the root chakra, get plenty of sleep, exercise, & enjoy outdoor activities. Root chakra color is red, the associated stones and crystals are black onyx, red garnet, red jasper, Smokey quartz, and hematite. Essential oils such as Ylang Ylang, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, cinnamon can help to keep your root chakra healthy.
Spleen/Sacral or Svadhisthana is located below the navel and lower abdomen. It is associated with creativity and known as our sexual chakra. The element of water provides a sense of cohesiveness and when imbalanced one can experience depression, weakened immune system, fatigue & sexual dysfunction.
When balanced one can feel accomplished, happiness, and in good health/wellness. This chakra can be stimulated by massage and hot baths. The Spleen/Sacral is associated with the color orange. Some great crystals/stones are sun stone, tigers eye, orange calcite & carnelian. Essential oils that help balance this chakra are lemongrass, orange & neroli.
Solar Plexus or Manipura is located above the navel and stomach area. Associated with personal power and transformation it is the WARRIOR chakra and at no surprise it’s element is fire. When imbalanced physical manifestations can be digestive issues, constipation, nervousness and blood sugar issues. Some emotional manifestations can be nervousness, low self esteem and anger.
A few methods to stimulate this chakra are sunlight and reading. Crystals/stones that support this chakra are citrine, yellow jasper, rutilated quartz, and pyrite. Essential oils such as grapefruit and rosemary aid in balancing the Solar Plexus.
Heart or Anahata is located in the center of the chest and is where the lower three chakras or physical chakras meet the upper three or spiritual chakras. This chakra encompasses the heart, breast, lung and cardiac plexus. When closed manifestation of grief, anger, hatred towards others and self. Fear and jealousy are some emotional impacts of this chakra.
Physical manifestation can be breathing issues, chest pain, high blood pressure and immune system issues. When open, this chakra gives a sense of love, acceptance, forgiveness, and compassion.
Associated colors are pink and green. Crystals/stones are chrysphrase, aventurine, rose quartz, and rhodonite. Essential oils to help balance this chakra are cedarwood, eucalyptus, and amyris. Stimulate this chakra by taking a walk in nature, eat green foods and spend time with loved ones.
Speak your truth! The Throat or Vishudda chakra is all about speaking your truth & listening to others truth. Associated with the throat; region of the thyroid to the larynx. This chakra is responsible for expression and authentic speaking is the key for this chakra, so when imbalanced some physical manifestations can be hormone, thyroid, neck and shoulder issues.
Throat chakra’s color is blue, the stones/crystals associated with this chakra are angelite, sodalite, blue apatite, blue aventurine & aquamarine. It’s essential oils are peppermint, eucalyptus, and geranium. Stimulate this chakra by singing or talking.
Your Sixth Sense. The Third Eye/Brow or Anja is your sixth sense or intuition. Located at the brow, between the eyebrows this chakra is associated with the lower part of the brain, eyes, pituitary gland and head. Anja guides your decision making by providing clues or “gut” feelings so pay attention to those subtle and maybe not so subtle feelings or clues.
When imbalanced some physical manifestations are depression and sleep disorders. When balanced one is open to listening to the sixth sense and able to be guided in the best possible decisions. Stimulate this Chakra through meditation and indigo colored food. Crystals/stones lapis lazuli, soldalite, flourite, amethyst, lolite, & angelite. Some great essential oils are myrrh, patchouli, star anise, & frankincense.
Crown or Sahaswara is one's connection to the Divine. It is the source of spiritual connection and enlightenment. Located above the head this chakra connections us to the highest level; to our divine self. Stimulated by dreams and visions one can remain spiritually aware by adopting daily practices such as meditation, certain breathing techniques or prayer.
When imbalanced one can experience headaches and light sensitivity. When balanced one experiences a continual state of peace. The colors of this chakra are violet and white. Crystals/stones are clear quartz, amethyst, celemite, and moonstone. It’s associated essential oils are jasmine and lavender.
These are all energetic centers of the body that correspond to feelings and one or more of them will resonate with you at different times. Sometimes you can experience these as blocks. When you repeatedly experience the same issues, that is a big indicator that one or more chakras are blocked.
You can unblock them the same way you help to balance and alignment them. yoga, mediation, chakra cleansing, breath work, sound therapy, aroma therapy and using the corresponding stones in your daily practice.
Love & light,Tree Pose
The benefit of tree pose helps to stretch the hips, ankles, and feet. It also strengthens the ankles, quads, abs, and calves all while improving balance.
To get into tree pose begin in Mountain Pose. Draw your shoulders down away from your ears and stand tall. Ground down through all four corners of your feet and engage your leg muscles. Find a point of focus to help you stay balanced in front of you - on the floor, wall, or ceiling. Engage your abs and begin to lift one foot off the ground. Bring the sole of your foot on your ankle, shin, or upper thigh - avoiding the knee to prevent injury. To help bring your foot on your upper thigh, you can use your hand to guide it there. Bring your hands together in prayer position at your chest or bring your arms overhead with the palms facing each other. You can bring your hands on your hips to help with your balance. Hold for several breaths before releasing your leg back down. Repeat on the opposite side.
Squat Pose
The benefit of squat pose help to improve balance, concentration, and focus. It also helps to increase circulation and blood flow in the pelvis.
Stand on the mat with your feet wide apart. Bend your knees and lower your butt to come into a squat position. Bend your elbows to bring the palms together and take your arms inside your knees to press your elbows against your inner knees. Keep your spine neutral, neck straight and shoulders relaxed. Stay in this pose for 5 full deep breaths in and out then relax.
Child Pose
The benefits include stretching the spine, shoulders, ankles, hips, and neck. This pose helps to release tension in the shoulders and back.
Kneel and sit on your knees with your buttocks resting on your feet. Lean forward, keeping your buttocks on your heels, and rest your forehead on the floor. Move your arms so they're next to your legs, palms facing down. Inhale and exhale, slowly and deeply, for at least 5 full breaths and out.
Easy Pose
The benefit of this pose helps to strengthen the back and stretches the hips, knees, ankles, and thighs.
Sit on your mat with your hips rooted to the ground. Allow your head and spine to lengthen up towards the sky. Slightly engage your core muscles and draw your shoulders away from your ears. Fold your legs in towards your torso, tucking your feet underneath each knee. Relax the muscles in your body. Relax your hands comfortably into your lap. Take 5 full breaths in and out with your eyes closed or a soft gaze.
Seated Spinal Twist
The benefit of this pose is to stretch the spine, shoulders, neck and strengthen the core.
Begin by sitting on your mat with your legs out in front of you in Staff pose. Keep your spine lengthened. Bend your right knee, bring your right foot right next to the left thigh and bring your right hand behind you, placing either your fingertips or palm onto the mat. Place your left hand on your right knee. To advance the pose, you can deepen the twist by wrapping your left elbow around your right knee. Continue to lengthen up through the spine and engage your core muscles. Slowly twist your torso towards your right side. Allow your head and neck to follow stopping at the point that is comfortable for you. As you exhale, focus on twisting deeper and as you inhale, focus on lengthening up more through your spine and torso. Hold for 5 full breaths in and out. To release, bring your torso back to center. Switch sides.
Cat/Cow
The benefit of cat/cow stretches the spine and shoulders and strengthens the abs and back. This pose also improves circulation and digestion by massaging internal organs.
From a tabletop position, align your knees directly under your hips and bring your wrists directly under your shoulders. As you inhale, drop your belly towards your mat, lift your chest and tilt your tailbone up towards the ceiling. (Cow pose). As you exhale, press firmly through your hands, engage your core by pulling your belly into your spine, round your back up and bring your head down towards the mat. (Cat pose). Move back and forth between these two poses, connecting to the breath (inhaling for cow pose, exhaling for cat pose), and then eventually come back to a neutral spine in tabletop position.
Downward Facing Dog
The benefit of this position stretches the shoulders, calves, ankles, and hamstrings and strengthens the shoulders, upper back, arms, core, and legs.
Lower your forearms to the mat so that your arms are parallel to each other. You can opt to bring your palms face down on the mat or clasp them together. Engage and activate your core and quads. Begin to slowly walk in your feet towards your hands, stopping at the point that is comfortable for you. Keep your spine long and broaden across your shoulder blades. Hold for 5 deep breaths in and out. To release, slowly walk your feet back and come up onto your hands.
Practice these poses every day and you'll notice a vast difference not only with your energy flow, but you will also feel more relaxed and limber.

Being a mother of two I can relate to the ups and downs of pregnancy and let me tell you society does not prepare us for the downs. We hear about pregnancy “glow” I say it is way too much sweat because you are always hot during pregnancy. How about morning sickness, it really should be called all-day sickness, or the stretching that is felt non-stop in the second and third trimester. How about the newfound “cankles” that just won’t go away. And let’s talk about postpartum, sleep deprivation, hormones out of control trying to get back to “normal” while caring for a tiny bundle of joy. Yes, all of those and more. Now don’t get me wrong, pregnancy is beautiful and worth every aspect, the good and not so good, however, it is challenging too. The more stress we are under the more stress the baby feels. And this is where Reiki is pregnancy’s best friend.
Reiki has many benefits for self-healing and when used in pregnancy it can promote a healthier happier pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum journey. It restores the mind and body creating space for a healthy bond with the unborn child and mother, and reduces exhaustion, nausea, and morning sickness, especially when done in the first trimester. The calming effect reiki has on the body is known to relax the pelvic muscles, in turn, reducing labor pains during vaginal delivery, and as a bonus promotes relaxation in the baby so when the mother is stressed there are minimal effects on the unborn child. As the baby grows a woman’s body stretches creating discomfort, regular reiki sessions are known to combat the discomfort of the body’s ever-growing changes. Now we have pregnancy benefits that are beyond amazing what about postpartum?
Reiki healing has been used for centuries to aid in calming the mind and relaxing the body which is known to reduce postpartum depression, increase milk production for nursing or pumping moms, and reduce breast pain due to engorgement and soreness during feedings. Reiki also aids in better sleep for mom and baby and enhances digestion while promoting growth both physically and mentally for the baby.
Give yourself permission to enhance the most beautiful experience by adding reiki into your weekly routine. Congratulations on your bundle of joy.

]]>Reiki healing has been around for thousands of years with nothing but benefits following the practice. From relaxation to improved healing injuries or disorders, it has been the gentle go-to for many and is gaining more understanding and acceptance in the modern medical world. The added benefit of Reiki is, it can be done anywhere to anything for everyone to enjoy. As a Reiki healer, I am blessed to work with people near and far, to witness smiles of relief after their sessions, and to hear the happiness exploding from them. Reiki is known to reduce stress and boost the immune system. A healthy immune system and less stress creates glowing, healthy, youthful skin, and who doesn’t want that! Reiki is not just for the body, it is also for food, drinks, and any object or living being. It is known to enhance the nutrient level in foods so it's a win-win. Now, the only question is, do you want to enhance your food? If you said yes, keep reading because here’s how you can in just 5 minutes or less.
4 Easy Steps to Reiki Blessed Food
Step 1: Set your intention
Before preparing your meal or drink, set your intention. This can be simply wanting to reduce stress or strengthen your digestion or you may have an injury you are recovering from. It’s your intention, make it work for you. If you are not sure where to start I recommend you set the intention of all negative energy to be removed from the meal and all positive energy be infused.
Step 2: Laying of the hands
Now that you have your intention you will put your hands around the food or drink and visualize how the outcome looks. Visualize positive energy flowing effortlessly into your food or drink and negative energy flowing out. If you set the intention of stress reduction, visualize how you will feel and place that positive energy into what you are blessing.
Step 3: 30-60 seconds of Reiki
Keep your hands around the food or drink (you do not have to touch it, you will just place your hands around it as if cupping without touching) for 30-60 seconds while keeping the intention at focus.
Step 4: Thank you
After 30-60 seconds of blessing, feel free to go longer if you like, place your hands in Gasso (as if praying) position and slightly bow over what you have blessed while saying "Thank you for this blessing".

]]>I grew up loving the sun; my parents loved spring and summer. These seasons were to enjoy barbecues, summer vacations, pool time, ice cream, watermelon, and fresh flowers. My mom and dad always encouraged us to go outside and soak up some natural vitamin D. In fact our house had tons of windows that let in lots of natural light and let me tell you, to this day, soaking in sunshine puts a huge smile on my face!
Being protected from this free and organic mood-enhancing, immune-boosting, and vitamin D-rich goodness didn’t cross our minds until we learned our mother had allergic reactions to direct sunlight due to her SLE Lupus. Her disease didn’t prevent her from enjoying those beautiful rays, but it did teach us about the right kind of protection and the importance of enjoying direct sunlight in moderation.
These days there are so many sunscreens to choose from with highly questionable ingredients. Now that beautiful sunny weather is here, so is flag football, water fights, and lots more outdoor fun for my family and me.
As the owner of a holistic skincare company and concerned mother I have been asking the burning question; does sunscreen harm or help our skin? More and more studies are showing the ingredients in sunscreens could actually be the culprit in causing skin cancer and not the actual sun.
An article written by Paul Fassa noted that a study conducted by researchers at the Karolinska Institute found that women who avoid sunbathing during the summer are twice as likely to die as those who sunbathe every day. Additionally, an epidemiological study followed 30,000 women for over 20 years and “showed that mortality was about double in women who avoided sun exposure compared to the highest exposure group.”
An article issued in the NY Times (I Beg To Differ), over ten years ago, notes two opposing agreements from two prominent dermatologists. One argues there are no solid scientific facts that prove sunscreens protect our skin from the sun, while the other believes limiting sun exposure and using sunscreen is the best way to protect us from skin cancer. So who’s right?
Well, I am no expert but I do know two things; 1) without enough vitamin D we run the risk of creating a deficiency which can lead to disease. 2) Many sunscreens (not all) do contain toxic ingredients that can cause disease.
So, what’s the answer? Great question. Again, I am no medical expert, but here are some things that can help protect you and your little ones:
Eating a healthy diet that contains omega-3, vitamin B, C, D & E, and foods rich in antioxidants.
Getting enough sunlight, but not too much is also important; everything in moderation is key here. Besides no one wants a terrible sunburn.
Check the ingredients on your sunscreen and switch to a cleaner brand. You already know your skin is absorbent and like so many other skincare products, there are toxic ingredients in sunscreen too.
We recommend staying away from sunscreens that contain these ingredients:
Oxybenzone - a synthetic estrogen that penetrates the skin and can disrupt the hormone system.
Retinyl Palmitate (vitamin A retinyl or retinol) - Eating vitamin A is very good for you, but studies have shown putting it on your skin is not.
All synthetic fragrances - these contain harmful chemicals such as parabens, phthalates, and synthetic musks.
If you are super adventurous you can make this homemade sunscreen that is safe for you and your kids!
1/2 cup organic coconut oil
1/2 cup of shea butter (look for fair trade and unrefined, you can use mango or cocoa butter as well)
1/4 cup of beeswax (see if you can get this locally sourced from a local farmer. If you have a farmers market, you will likely find a beekeeper who is willing to part with some wax)
1 tsp carrot seed oil
1 tsp vitamin E
1 tsp red raspberry seed oil
20 drops of essential oil that promote skin healing (chamomile, geranium, frankincense, lavender, myrrh, peppermint, or tea tree. It is NOT recommended to include citrus essential oils in your sunscreen. They are photosensitizing and can cause sunburn).
Instructions:
Over low heat in a double boiler, melt coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax until completely melted. Remove from heat and add carrot seed oil, vitamin E, red raspberry seed oil, and essential oils. Stir and let sit until it cools. With a blender, whip until fully blended.
Whatever the studies show, whatever the experts argue about, know your own power in knowledge and choice. Read the labels so you can choose cleaner sunscreens for your family and remember, everything in moderation. Including the sun!

Now let’s talk about how to use it. There are many ways to incorporate raw sugar into your skincare routine. Grab your favorite plant oil (extra virgin olive oil and apricot oil are some of my favorites) and add it to a cup or 2 of organic raw sugar, place in a glass jar with an airtight lid and you have your homemade silk. Apply in a circular motion to your skin, wipe off and you are ready to go. Suffer from dry scalp? Place a quarter to half dollar size amount in the palm of your and rub it on your scalp in a circular motion. Do this for a minute or two then wash and rinse your hair. You can simply rinse your hair if you like just keep in mind the raw sugar is in plant oils so you may walk around with greasy-looking hair all day. Not up for a DIY, no problem, click your way to glowing protected skin and in a few days, a goodie package is on your doorstep. Body Silk is a handcrafted blend of organic fair trade raw sugar, organic plant oils, with a burst of citrus followed by a soft floral aroma that lasts all day. Add reiki and crystal infused and it doesn’t get any better than that!
During a time of uncertainty across the world, one thing we can all do to help feel healthier, a little safer, and connected is practice self-care. A simple yet effective step of adding sugar to your routine is not only great care for your skin it is a great way to care for you.

]]>Meditation connects you to your highest self. This process promotes focus, balance, boosts the immune system. This in turn reduces blood pressure and increases calmness by decreasing stress, anxiety and depression. I am sure you are saying “I can’t sit still” or “I don’t have time” well excuses no more because research has shown that 2 minutes a day of meditation can improve brain function. Try it! Start off with 2 minutes a day and as you start to create your meditation flow increase your time. Meditation techniques encourage 15-30 minutes 1-2 times per day to enhance wellness so start your timer at 2 minutes and add as you go!
How Do I Know Which Meditation is Right for Me?
Try them. There are many meditations to pick from, some you can explore on your own while others require a teacher to guide you when you first start. Try different forms to see what resonates best with you. Below are a few you can easily start on your own.
Mindfulness Meditation
Helps you to be fully present and aware. Find a quiet space and get comfortable. Close your eyes and take deep breaths in through your nose out through your mouth. With each breath be mindful of the coolness as it enters and warmth as it exits. Allow your thoughts to enter without focusing on them (don’t let them linger). Continue your breath work for a minimum of 2 minutes to start. You can even practice your 2 minutes multiple times per day.
Zen Meditation
This form focuses more on breathing and observing thoughts that may enter without judgement. Find a quiet place, sit comfortably with your back straight and hold a position that feels natural. Take a moment to relax any tension you are feeling in your body, for example if your jaw feels tense relax your mouth by lightly massaging your face. You can keep your eyes open or closed. Now you are ready to begin. Breath in and out through your nose staying mindful of the sound of your breath. As your mind wanders (start to think about your to-do list or what happened throughout the day) gently redirect your thoughts back to your breathing. Continue your breath work for a minimum of 2 minutes to start.
Mantra Meditation
Yes, it is exactly how it sounds! Mantras are words, sounds or phrases that help keep the mind focused (a few of my favorite mantras are Om, So Hum, Om Nama Shiva). Once you have chosen your mantra find a quiet space, sit comfortably and close your eyes. Begin relaxing your muscles starting from your feet to your face (you can wiggle your feet/legs and shrug your shoulders to help relax them). For the first minute sit quietly and allow your thoughts to enter and exit. After a minute start repeating your mantra. You can repeat your mantra aloud or internally (repeatedly think it). Continue to repeat the mantra for a minimum of 2 minutes to start.
Transcendental Meditation
This meditation requires assistance by a trained teacher. If you have the option I highly recommend it. This is a spiritual form of meditation using a mantra and helps improve brain function, cardiovascular health and reduces stress and anxiety.
If you are interested in this type of meditation here is the organization I trained under and recommend. Transcendental Meditation-TM

Let’s talk about beeswax!
Bees are pests for many, especially if you are allergic to them, but they sure do make some great items to add to your Farmacy. Beeswax is high in vitamin A which is known to support cell health and cell reconstruction. As our skin cells get damaged from environmental toxins, beeswax aids in healing them. It creates a barrier between the environment and skin without clogging pores. We all have experienced clogged pores; it is not a glamorous look especially as we get older. Another great gift of beeswax, moisturizer! Yep, it is a moisturizer for our skin. When we spend days in the sun without moisturizing wrinkles set in much faster making us look years older and not in a good way. Beeswax has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce inflammation caused by skin irritants and sunburns.
Now you know why beeswax is great, let’s talk about how to apply it.
No, you do not have to walk around with a stick of beeswax rubbing it on your skin and no you do not have to find the right DIY unless of course, you want to. There are easier ways to protect your skin while not taking time away from family, friends, and fun or breaking your bank account. Satins are among my favorites. Organic, non-GMO satins go a long way because you only need to apply a small amount on your skin. Satins that are made without all the nasty chemicals and high water content provide all the goodies your skin needs while not putting junk back into your body, after all, we are trying to combat toxins not add them. They leave your skin feeling like satin as they soak in to nourish your skin and leave it glowing. Do not be alarmed, High-vibe satins will melt in the heat because they are proving to you there are no chemicals in them. All you have to do is put them in the refrigerator for a few minutes and they will harden before you know it.
Now all you have to do is grab your favorite High-Vibe Satin and enjoy your summer!

]]>I bet your first question is “So, what is face yoga?” A series of facial exercises or movements that help to tone and strengthen facial muscles (57 that are included in the face, neck, and scalp). This helps to smooth the skin giving it a younger look.
“OK, great, but does it work?” I know is your next question… Hmm, many say “YES!” I have not tried this technique yet, but I have done a lot of research to better understand how this works and what is the correct exercise to start incorporating in my daily skincare routine. Here is what I found out…
There is a face muscle chart you can use to better understand what muscles are in your face and which muscles become engaged when you move certain areas, like your cheeks or eyebrows. Using your fingers to massage helps to increase blood flow which results in younger-looking and more radiant skin and complexion.
It is better to practice exercises daily in three-minute sessions throughout the day. You don’t need to set aside special times to do this, you can simply incorporate these exercises into your daily routine; while showering, walking your dog, driving to work, sitting at your desk, or wherever!
I read that, many women (and some men too) found several benefits to this practice. Not only did they see improvements in reducing wrinkles, but it helped reduce puffy eyes, firmed skin, clearer complexion, and slimmer face and neck by helping to lift the skin.
I found a few face yoga instructors including Koko Hayashi, founder of Face Yoga With Koko, who has been practicing face yoga for over ten years. She provides tutorials on YouTube. You can also look at some before and after pictures that will blow your mind, make you a believer, and start your own face yoga routine!
If you decide to give this exercise a go, we’d love to hear about your experience!

Tara Raj, CPC, ACC, CNWCHyperpigmentation is when patches of skin become darker than the normal tone of an individual’s complexion. This is also known as dark spots, these are common and caused by several factors.
Melanin is pigment that gives our skin, hair, and eyes color. Dark-skinned people have more melanin in their skin than light-skinned people.
So, how do we get hyperpigmentation (dark spots)? Simply put, dark spots are the result of the overproduction of melanin and/or free-radical damage (UV light).
Dark spots do not hurt and many are harmless, like freckles. They can vary in size and are commonly found on the shoulders, hands, face, and back.
We are all familiar with over-exposure to UV light and the negative impacts it can have on our skin. Over time we can develop these pesky dark spots that leave us feeling insecure about our once glowing and flawless exterior. I won’t go into all the reasons you should stay away from tanning beds (another blog for another day), but I will stress the importance of staying out of them.
Now I LOVE the sun… Let me just say that again… I LOVE the sun! I grew up in the sun and by far sunshine is my happy place. There are so many benefits to getting the right amount of sunshine. Vitamin D for one and it’s a natural mood booster! Plus, seeing those bright rays shine down, lighting everything up and pouring life into colors, who doesn’t want to bask in that?
BUT, it is important to be properly covered when in the sunshine and only spend a moderate amount of time exposed to it. Remember when I talked about melanin five paragraphs up? Melanin provides some protection against skin damage from the sun, and melanin cells (melanocytes) increase their production in response to sun exposure, thus creating dark spots. It is important to note that ANY complexion can get dark spots from the sun.
But UV light is not the only way to get dark spots. Over-production of melanin can be caused by certain medications such as tetracyclines, estrogens, and phenothiazines which can cause the skin to be photosensitive. Certain skin conditions like Riehl's Melanosis (type of dermatitis), melasma (pregnancy mask), and inflammatory lesions from acne can also cause dark spots. Most people are familiar with liver spots that are caused by liver disease and these too are considered dark spots.
Oh boy… OK, so we have many ways we can get dark spots, but how can we rid our facial canvases of these unwanted pests?
Before I keep going I think it is more than important to remind everyone reading this, that beauty is SO MANY things. And while dark spots are not a desirable feature we would choose to have, they do not take away your beauty. Say it with me… “Dark spots DO NOT define my beauty!” Good! Again…. “Dark spots DO NOT define my beauty!”
Awesome! Let’s keep going…
There are plenty of natural ways to reduce dark spots. You don’t have to spend loads of money on creams filled with toxins or on harsh chemical peels and you can find most of these natural ingredients right in your kitchen! BUT….before you try any homemade natural remedies make sure to conduct a patch test for sensitivity before applying to your entire face. Below are a few you can try at home.
Apple Cider Vinegar - It speeds up the process of skin shedding and regrowth, allowing new skin (that is not discolored) to surface more quickly.
Mix equal amounts of ACV and water and a few drops of lemon juice (orange works too). Use a clean cotton ball to apply all over face and neck.
Aloe Vera - Aloe vera contains aloin which is a depigmentation agent that helps to lighten dark areas on the skin.
Apply aloe vera gel directly to the dark spots and leave for 30 minutes, rinse with warm water. Repeat in both the morning and evening.
Turmeric - It contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant, that reduces excess production of melanin. This helps to even skin tone and lighten scars.
Mix freshly-squeezed lemon with a pinch of turmeric and apply this paste to dark spots with a clean cotton ball. Let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
I use all three for various skin-repairing reasons, but my favorite is turmeric. I had to rub my whole body in a turmeric paste for three days before I got married and my skin was absolutely radiant! Remember, most results don’t happen overnight. Some people see results in a few weeks while others in a few months.
Pick one above, be sure to do a patch test first, and then get started!
Love and light to you and your skin!

]]>So, what is a clean high vibration lifestyle skincare brand? A brand that believes in and supports a holistic approach to skincare. Infuses ingredients with energy. Verifies the integrity behind all ingredients and materials; ethically and sustainably sourced. Honors earth-friendly practices. Believes that your time is precious so a little goes a long way.
What’s our holistic approach?
Health is not singular, it’s the sum of many pieces working together in harmony to maintain balance. Our skin is a piece of our overall health and can be impacted by many variables. To maintain healthy, glowing, and youthful skin, it is important to use clean skincare products alongside the practice of healthy behaviors; exercise, clean eating, stress-relieving exercises, restful sleep, and a positive mindset. Together these help to treat your skin holistically.
Here at Earth’s Farmacy we have two core mantras; Earth’s gift to you! And “What you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it.” Because we believe so strongly in both, we create our skincare with more than our love and passion. Every product is made with clean, simple, and effective ingredients that are infused with Reiki and crystal energy. Our ingredients are high quality ranging from non-GMO to organic and fair-trade.
Sourcing the ingredients:
Prior to sourcing from an organization, we ask a series of questions to best understand what is the impact on the environment as well as the local communities to source that ingredient. We only work with companies that uphold ethical and sustainable practices. We do not believe in testing on animals, destroying the rain forests, polluting the earth, or endangering people’s livelihoods.
Earth-friendly practices:
Our packaging does not fall short of our high expectations. This is why we opted to use recycled glass and plastic containers, use stone labels, biodegradable shrink wrap, and all of our packagings is made from recycled materials. To top off this cake, you can reuse your bottles and packaging or simply recycle them again.
When you purchase our skincare you can trust that the ingredients will always be clean and safe and feel good about the positive impact you are supporting.]]>When we are on the go constantly chasing or keeping up with our dreams, careers, family, success, the stress catches up and many times we find that stress-busting out of our skin. When we have daily stress toxins build up in our body and can create skin blemishes, stress wrinkles, and unwanted breakouts. Self-care is the best care when it comes to minimizing our stress levels. I bet you are asking what does the moon have to do with stress and skin? Well, I am excited to tell you. The moon holds energy that works for us not against us by creating a rhythm that guides us. Just as we discussed in a blog on Full Moon rituals there are New Moon rituals that can help bring abundance, success, and open you up to inviting more of what you want in your life. Give yourself 20-30 minutes to take advantage of the New Moon’s energy and enjoy treating yourself to some self-care.
Here are a few of our favorite New Moon Rituals
Grounding...One simple word yet profound benefits in just a few steps
Step One:
Grab your supplies. I recommend grabbing your stones/crystals, incense or candles, and cleansing bundle.
Find a quiet space in your home or outside.
Set your crystals/stones around you and light your incense or candles.
Step Two:
Set your intention of inviting what you want more of then cleanse yourself with sage or palo santo stick.
Light the sage bundle or palo santo stick for about 20-30 seconds then allow the flame to burn out.
Place the stick or bundle on a fire-resistant plate or bowl and gently sweep the smoke around you. Be careful not to let the embers fall out.
Place the bowl to the side, making sure it is not on or near anything flammable.
Step Three:
Stand barefoot outside while stating what you want to invite more of in your life. You can walk around or stay in place. Be sure to be specific on what you want more of.
If you are in your home you can still be barefoot and ground by stomping your feet as if you are getting mud off your shoes or jump up and down a few times.
Now it is time to state what you want to invite into your life. Don’t forget to be specific and keep stating until you are done.
Write them down! This is my absolute favorite way to manifest abundance.
Follow steps one and two from above, be sure to get a pen and paper too.
Sit in a quiet area.
Start writing down all that you want to have in your life. Be specific in what you want and the sky's the limit so don’t hold back on anything.
If you want more clients then you can write down “I have 20 new clients each week and all current clients are repeat clients”. With each item, imagine it as if it already exists, allow yourself to feel the emotions of what it will feel like when it comes to fruition. Write down every detail and appreciate it coming true.
Remember this is all about you so make it yours!
Add a charged crystal to amplify the power of your intentions. If you do not have a charged crystal get your cleansing bundle. It has all you need to clear, cleanse, and manifest.
Another great way to prepare for moon rituals is a Reiki Session 2-3 days before you set you intentions.

]]>If you’re seeking clear, plump, amazing skin (and who isn’t?), you should know that your diet plays an important role in your appearance. The old saying, “You are what you eat” is really true and applies to your skin just like it does for the rest of your body. It’s all about proper nutrients, minimizing inflammation, and eating healthy fats.
Vitamin C Rich Foods
One nutrient that creates firmer, smoother skin while lessening the appearance of sunspots and dryness is Vitamin C. Since our bodies don’t manufacture or store this important nutrient, it is essential to eat vitamin C rich foods. Some excellent choices to incorporate into your daily diet include dark leafy greens (such as kale or broccoli), carrots, apricots, and other yellow and orange fruits and vegetables.
Anti-Inflammatory Foods
Inflammation is one of the leading causes of skin problems such as acne. When your blood sugar spikes, it causes inflammation throughout your body. This is why sugar and other simple carbohydrates like white bread, pasta and baked goods made with sugar and enriched flour should be limited or better yet, completely avoided.
Choosing anti-inflammatory foods such as sweet potatoes, kale, broccoli, mushrooms, green tea, cherries and turmeric have a calming effect on the body and will aid in reducing inflammation which will diminish or erase redness.
Healthy Fats for Healthy Skin
Another way to support healthy skin is to eat foods containing high quality omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 rich foods are great for inflamed, dry, irritated or itchy skin resulting from skin conditions like acne, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis.
Consider these foods containing healthy fats:
Cold water fish such as salmon, mackerel and other fatty fish
Walnuts
Avocados
Flax seed
Extra virgin olive oil
Chia seeds
Dark chocolate (in moderation)
Coconut and coconut oil
The best foods for healthy skin also promote good health overall. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Limit or eliminate dairy products. Include nuts, seeds and beans in your favorite meals. Choose whole-grain breads and pasta. Limit sweets. Bottom line, feed your body well with skin-loving foods to give you clear, plump and amazing skin!

What are sage and palo santo?
]]>What are sage and palo santo?
Sage can be found in most spice cabinets or growing in a pot around your house but it is not just for cooking. From Native American rituals to Indigenous Peoples ceremonies sage has been used for centuries in spiritual and medicinal practices and was given the meaning “the healer” or “to save”. What makes this herb so popular? It is believed to remove negative energy, thoughts and anxiety from one's space and energy system providing a sense of calmness and peace. Modern science went deeper to unveil more beneficial properties and found it is a potent antibacterial.
Palo Santo is considered a mystical tree meaning “holy wood” found in South America and some parts of Central America. It has a delicious woody scent bringing out hints of mint, lemon and pine leaving you feeling relaxed. Shamans used this wood to purify space by removing negative energy and blocks, as blocks and negative energy is removed good fortune replaces it.
How Do I Cleanse my Space?
Begin lighting your sage bundle or palo santo stick with a lighter. I recommend not using a match as you may need to let the fire burn for several seconds until the sage or palo santo stick starts to burn. Be sure to have a heat resistant bowl or plate; such as a crystal agate dish, shell, clay bowl or regular plate, to place the wood or sage in while they are lit!
Set your intention(s) before starting. Carefully light one end of the wood creating a small flame and allow it to burn for 30 seconds then blow out the flame. If you are using sage you will light the large end of the smudge bundle. It may catch fire for a brief moment then smolter out. If it remains lit, lightly blow on it until the fire is distinguished. Place the stick, bundle or both on a fire safe/heat resistant surface. Now it is time to move about your space you wish to clear. Allow the smoke to move throughout the space making sure all corners in the rooms are reached. You can use a fallen/found feather or your hand to waft the smoke as you move through your space. After you have completed all rooms you wish to clear you can leave the wood or bundle in the fire safe container and allow the embers to burn out or you can press the lit end down on the fire safe bowl/container until the embers are out. Never leave a burning stick or bundle alone, always stay with it until it has been distinguished.
High-Vibe Tip:
Add a charged quartz crystal to your cleansing ritual to amplify the power of your intentions while cleansing. You can keep the crystal on you during your cleansing or all day. Either way you are sure to enhance positive energy, healing, and overall positive outlook!
Love & light to you and your space!

Get up and walk
Research shows that walking for just 5 minutes enhances your mood by promoting happiness and creativity. Add in fresh air and your mood is sure to soar! So next time you begin to feel blah, put on your walking shoes and enjoy at least a 5-minute walk.
Shake it off
That’s right, shake it off. Jump up and down while you allow your arms and legs to be loose for roughly 5-6 times. This re-aligns your energy by releasing endorphins giving you a happy feeling. It can also make you feel like a kid again which isn’t a bad thing.
Say it loud “I am grateful”
Super easy right? State aloud or write down at least 3 things you are grateful for. Research suggests that stating what you are grateful for brings a sense of happiness and enables individuals to connect with something larger than themselves. When connecting to a higher, more grand purpose people feel happier and more accomplished no matter what they are going through. So start your gratitude list.
Girl, toss your hair back and work it
Yep, toss your hair back and work your vocals girlfriend. We all want to do it and many of us feel too shy or embarrassed to. Singing to your favorite tune as if no one is watching enhances your mood and gives a sense of empowerment. Grab your phone, turn on your favorite song and start singing.
Smile and loosen up
Smiling is a quick and simple way to turn your mood around. It triggers a chemical reaction in the brain releasing dopamine (a feel-good hormone) and serotonin (stress releasing hormone) Even if you fake it ‘til you make it you will still get happy vibes. Loosen up your facial muscles and instantly feel better.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is my favorite way to go because you can smell, wear it and enjoy it all day. One of my favorite happy smells is French lavender. It has a soft floral smell that is nostalgic and a sure way to lift your spirits. It can be added to a diffuser or blended in your high vibe skincare so you can get a whiff of it throughout your day. Bonus for this one, other people can get a whiff of your happiness as you walk past them.
Whether you need a quick boost to get through your day or a lifestyle change, having easy to do tools in your back pocket is a sure way to get you going.
**It is always recommended to speak to a healthcare professional to make sure you have the proper health tools.

]]>A full moon’s energy promotes releasing or purging making it a great time to let go of what is no longer working for us or doesn’t feel right. It is a time to tie up any loose ends so they do not follow you into the seeds of the New Moon. How do you know what to do on a full moon? There are many rituals to choose from so pick what works best for you after all this is all about you so take advantage of it.
Here are a few that I love to do as they are easy ways to release around my busy schedule. I use all seven chakra rollers and my cleansing bundle to prepare for my full moon rituals. Chakra rollers help balance my chakra system and energy field and the cleansing bundle has ethically sourced sage bundle, palo santo stick, and a cleansed clear quartz crystal. Everything I need to cleanse my space before starting my full moon release.
Release
Release! Release! Release.
Find a quiet space where you will not be interrupted, for busy homes find an area you will have the least amount of interruptions. Cleanse your space with sage or palo santo stick. You will do this by lighting the sage or palo stick for about 25 seconds allowing the orange embers to glow enough then gently blow out the flames. Place in a heat-resistant container and slowly walk around your space allowing the smoke to waft guiding it out of a window or door.
Sit down, write a list of everything you want to release from your life then read them aloud with the intention of letting go of them and say “I release you”
Yep, it’s just that easy!
Visualize
Light a candle or incense, sit in a relaxing position, close your eyes and take 6 deep breaths inhaling through your nose exhaling through your mouth. Visualize you are at the edge of the ocean, the cool sand against your feet as the waves gently massage your toes with the light of the moon shining on your face. Either aloud or in your head begin to state what you want to release by saying “I Release…” Once you have completed your list, state “I release all that is no longer serving my greater purpose.” Now you can slowly get up, be sure your sage bundle or palo stick is no longer burning, and enjoy feeling lighter!
Have a Dance Party of 1, 2, or maybe 3!
Yep, you read it right, dance it out. Get your family to join or do it by yourself. Get your favorite playlist out, turn up the volume, and dance as if everyone is watching and you have no care in the world. Shake up your stagnant energy and release it. Laugh, smile, enjoy your full moon dance party.
Try all or pick which one sticks out the most to you and start releasing!
Whether you create a quiet sacred space or turn up your favorite music and dance your heart out, you will align with the energy of the full moon and will feel lighter as you begin to focus on what serves your highest self.

At this point, you might be wondering what on earth do food allergies have to do with skincare! Great question…. Not much, EXCEPT for the many kids and adults who are highly allergic to some of these more common foods and react even if they touch their skin. They don’t have to digest them to have an allergic reaction.
When we created our first Satin (body butter) it was because of severe skin and food allergies Tate (gorgeous kid in the picture) had as a baby and still has today. He cannot touch gluten or any type of nut without itching and breaking out into hives. So we decided to create every product with all family members in mind. From tiny sweet babies to moms, dads, and even your fur babies.
It is challenging enough to keep up with all the things and reading all the labels, so we wanted to make buying our skincare easy for you. Right away you can be relieved knowing that our products don’t contain gluten, nuts, or animal milk. We do use coconut oil, which has been defined by the FDA as a nut, but coconut allergies are considered to be rare.
One of our goals is to create products your whole family can use safely. But always read the labels on any product you wish to purchase.

Besides, getting ready for the summer can be a stressful task even during normal times. We ladies tend to think of swimsuits, tan lines, and clothes that show off our shoulders and legs.
A good way to help brighten, tighten and glow up our skin is through detoxing it. There are many ways to help get your skin ready for a beautiful summer, so we've made it simple and listed a few inexpensive and easy things you can start doing now!
I’m sure you might be asking yourself “why would it melt? Other brands don’t melt.” Great question and you should ask it. Have you ever turned one of those other brands over and looked at the ingredients? I bet you’ll find alcohol, water, fragrance, stabilizers such as BHA, and different parabens. This is just to name a few. Crazy right? Another crazy thing is that some of these moisturizers cost upwards of $200+. Yeah, I know, it’s kind of nuts to pay hundreds of dollars to rub carcinogens all over your skin.
When we formulated our first Satin, Lemon Zest, we researched how lotions/body butters/moisturizers are made. We found that most moisturizers on the market contain water as the main ingredient. But because water does not bind well, it needs an oil (occlusive). Petroleum, mineral oil, and paraffin are three common oils found in moisturizers. Moisturizers that are oil-free contain dimethicone and the toxic list doesn’t stop here.
Next, they add humectants that attract water from the environment and in deeper levels of the skin. Glycerin and propylene glycol are commonly used humectants. And to top it off, emollients or alcohol is added. Yeah! So we have water, carcinogens, and flammable chemical compounds that make up most of the moisturizers you can buy to spread all over your skin.
Now I’m sure you’re asking “when is she going to get to the point?” Another great question and the answer is now. To make a truly organic and non-GMO Satin we looked for pure ingredients; non-toxic, no fillers, no synthetic, no stabilizers, no preservatives, and no dyes. We aimed to create a body butter that was pure with minimal ingredients and full of nutrition. We succeed! But with that success meant our Satin line may melt in high temperatures.
This is not a bad thing, it happens to be quite the opposite and easy to fix. If your Satin melts just give it a shake and pop it in the freezer for 30-60 min. Voila! It is back to being hard. Once it’s been hardened you will want to keep it at room temperature or store in the fridge. We understand that melting Satin is not ideal, but we promise it’s far better than rubbing chemicals and carcinogens all over your skin!

Earth’s gift to you!
In Ayurveda, doshas are energies within the body that governs physiological activity. There are three doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each dosha has a unique responsibility and when balanced they create a healthy body, both physically and mentally/emotionally. When they are in an imbalanced state they become aggravated creating disorders or ailments in their corresponding systems.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient practice that is holistically and consciously based. It promotes self-awareness through healthy daily and seasonal practices to connect individuals with their inner intelligence. This awareness followed with daily practices leads to a balanced healthy life.
What do Doshas, more specifically Pitta, have to do with skin?
Let’s talk about Pitta. Pitta is made up of fire and water elements that govern our sweat process, is responsible for body temperature, glow and luster of skin, and helps to protect it. When our skin is red and irritated that can indicate an imbalance or aggravated Pitta. When there are chronic skin conditions that can be an accumulation of Pitta, whether there is an aggravation or accumulation our skin will let us know. Skin needs to remain balanced and nourished; after all, it protects our organs from environmental toxins. Through Ayurvedic practices, we can maintain healthy glowing skin in just minutes a day.
Here are some of our favorite Ayurvedic practices that promote skincare.
Rosemary is a perennial that commonly grows in the Mediterranean. Rosemary as an essential oil is most popular for its therapeutic benefits; from hair growth to pain relief there isn’t much this oil can’t do. As a topical, rosemary can reduce inflammation, aid in pain reduction, and soothe respiratory issues such as discomfort due to common colds and flu.
Rosemary is an antiseptic making it a perfect solution for combating eczema, dermatitis, acne, and skin irritants. Rosemary essential makes a great skin toner, leaving your skin feeling smooth and healthy with the perfect glow.
We all go through stress throughout our day, at times leaving us feeling drained, fatigued, or just plain fed up. Rosemary is known to be effective in reducing cortisol levels in saliva. Cortisol is one of the main stress hormones and when reduced we are more relaxed.
A recent study has shown that inhaling rosemary essential oil through aromatherapy for five minutes a day can reduce cortisol levels in saliva. Less stress means immune support making our bodies in a healthier state to fight disease.
This powerhouse perennial is a definite must-have with its antioxidant properties and skin protectant. So say goodbye to free radicals, unhealthy skin, pain and stress!
